I’m an experienced Person-Centred Counsellor providing 1-1 counselling in the Penrith and North Lakes area. I usually see clients in my quiet and comfortable private practices, within and around Penrith (CA11) but I am happy to offer home visits by negotiation — please do ask.

Counselling sessions usually last 1 hour and are offered weekly but I can be flexible in response to your needs — do feel free to ring me to discuss.

For more about my qualifications, experience and so on, have a look at my About Me page.

How can Counselling help?

Counselling can help with a wide range of issues including:

  • Work-related matters
  • Sexuality
  • Spirituality
  • Relationships
  • Abuse
  • Pain (emotional, spiritual, physical)
  • Bereavement
  • Acute and chronic illness
  • Low self-esteem
  • Anxiety and depression

As a Person-Centred Counsellor, I do not give advice but provide a warm, empathic and highly confidential environment within which you can work towards greater self-awareness and understanding. Counselling can also offer a safe space to express and explore the pain of loss and grief; I have particular experience in this area.

What do I offer?

Clients value my gentle, non-judgmental attitude and my strong commitment to ethical and professional practice. I’m a full and registered member of the ‘British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy’ (BACP) and bound by its ‘Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions’ (2016). In accordance with professional guidelines I have regular supervision within a professional context.

Spiritual Accompaniment

Spiritual Accompaniment offers a safe and confidential space in which you can talk about your life and faith; this may or may not be expressed within a religious framework. I’m committed to my own spiritual growth and offer my clients gentle, respectful listening and a warm, spiritually engaged presence.

How does it differ from Counselling?

Appointments for Spiritual Accompaniment (sometimes known as Spiritual Guidance) are often a bit less frequent compared to counselling and may take place over a longer period. My approach to Spiritual Accompaniment rests within the Christian tradition but I’m comfortable working within any belief system — or none. I believe that our spirituality is the essence, heart, or ‘core’ of who we are…whatever language is used.

Spiritual Accompaniment offers an opportunity to explore personal doubts and struggles and/or purpose and meaning. I work carefully with my clients in establishing a style of accompaniment that upholds and sustains them in their spiritual lives.

Counselling Supervision

I’m also experienced in offering Person-Centred Supervision and particularly value supervising trainee therapists through initial counsellor training. I offer a climate of personal and professional empathy, congruence and challenge.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and, as above, a full and registered member of the ‘British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy’ (MBACP) and bound by its ‘Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions’. In accordance with professional guidelines, I receive regular supervision within a professional context.
